About the facilitator

Frank started gardening as a toddler in his grandparents’ allotment in Leipzig. A forest warden is what he wanted to become, but he studied architecture instead. After moving to rural Ireland and quitting his office job, he learned about pruning and grafting fruit trees. That was 22 years ago, and he hasn’t stopped since. By moving to Portugal 11 years ago he added citrus and olive trees to his repertoire. Frank lives with his partner and their daughter on a Quinta near Côja and runs Viveiro do Ribeiro, a small scale plant nursery.

More Details

Workshop is focused on hands-on experience, as we belief it is the best way to learn and remember. Please, bring some sharp secateurs or other pruning tools, if you have. A notebook to write down your notes might be helpful as well. Besides no further preparation or experience is needed. We will work on several different kind of trees, to show different examples, as every tree is unique. There will be also time to ask specific questions about your own challenges and needs.
